Wura Abiola (Ph.D.), Managing Director.

Profile

Wura has served clients in Nigeria and West Africa in the areas of leadership, governance, organisational development, risk management, strategy and public sector policy consulting since 1999.

Committed to the development of human capital, she served on the Nigeria Financial Sector Strategy (FSS) 2020 Subcommittee on Human Capital Development Strategy and is a member of the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIBN) Research, Strategy and Advocacy Committee. She was in October 2014, conferred with an Honorary Senior Membership (HCIB) by the CIBN .

Over the years, she has honoured invitations to deliver papers on these subjects. She has spoken at the annual International Women's Leadership Foundation Fellows Forum seminar at the Judge Institute of Management, Cambridge University; Retreat for Senior Nigerian Law Enforcement Officers (on “Building Integrity for Professional Law Enforcement) in April, 2006; 2013 International Payment Systems Conference in Abuja (on Governance of Financial Markets Infrastructure); Finance Week West Africa 2014 (on Women in Leadership) .

She is also a Senior Lecturer (Adjunct) - Organisational Development at the University of Lagos, facilitated Non-Executive Directors empowerment programmes for the FITC, and serves as lead MT facilitator on strategy, leadership and management training courses.

She has written articles on the Nigerian Power sector: “Power Crisis: Is NIPP Project Nigeria’s Last Hope?” and “NIPP: Great Idea But How Can it Work?” and co-wrote the much referenced article “Food for Africa”.

Prior to MT, Wura was a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. (New York and then in London) where she worked primarily in the areas of strategy and organisation for the financial and health sectors.


Wura has a B.Sc. in Accounting from the University of San Francisco (summa cum laude) and MBA (specialising in the Management of Innovation and Technology) and Ph.D. in Organisational Behaviour (Sept 1997) from Imperial College, London University. She holds a diploma in Environmental Risk Assessment and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. She is also a certified Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) by the Human Resource Certification Institute and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.
